Mediterrania Capital Partners acquires Amcor Flexibles Mohammedia in Morocco

The transition involves Mediterrania Capital Partners acquiring the facility from Amcor, ensuring continuity of flexible packaging operations in Morocco.

Mediterrania Capital Partners has acquired 100% of Amcor Flexibles Mohammedia, a flexible packaging manufacturing facility based in Morocco, marking a change in ownership of a key industrial packaging asset in North Africa.

The facility, previously part of Amcor, produces a range of flexible packaging solutions used across food, dairy, pharmaceutical, and personal care applications. Its operations include extrusion, printing, lamination, and converting, positioning it as a fully integrated packaging production platform within the regional value chain.

The acquisition has been carried out by Mediterrania Capital Partners, a private equity firm focused on growth investments in Africa. The deal reflects continued investor interest in the packaging sector, particularly in flexible packaging formats that serve high-volume consumer markets.

From a packaging industry perspective, the transaction highlights the strategic role of flexible packaging in supporting fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) supply chains in Morocco and neighbouring regions. The Mohammedia site is expected to continue supplying multilayer flexible structures for various end-use applications, where performance characteristics such as barrier properties, shelf-life extension, and lightweighting remain critical.

The change in ownership may also support further operational development of the facility, including potential investments in production efficiency, product range, and regional market expansion. Flexible packaging demand in Africa has been linked to urbanisation, growth in packaged food consumption, and the need for cost-effective packaging formats.

While the announcement focuses on the acquisition, the continued operation of an integrated flexible packaging site under new ownership is relevant for converters, brand owners, and suppliers engaged in the regional packaging ecosystem.
